Adir Jan & Emrah Gökmen

These two long-time companions are united by one thing above all: their love of music. The queer singer-songwriter and tembûrist Adir Jan, who quickly landed in the Transglobal World Music Charts with his Cosmopolitan Kurdesque sound, met a loving, longing soul with the singer and multi-instrumentalist Emrah Gökmen. By now, they’re inseparable, based on an intimate friendship, their affinity with Zazaism and vibrant Berlin life. Their artistic expression comes through a minimal arrangement: a small, long-necked lute, an acoustic guitar and their voices, which are so different but at the same time blend into each other perfectly. Together at Pop-Kultur, they will perform old Kurdish-Zaza songs as well as new pieces of their own, most of which were created by playing together. The result is an organic connection between the universal and the traditional. Adir Jan and Emrah Gökmen embody the aestheticisation of this supposed conflict, leaving each other space and breath.
