Eat Lipstick
Taken literally, it doesn’t sound like healthy advice: Eat Lipstick. This is the name that Anita Drink, The Shredder and Clea Cutthroat chose in 2008 for their new project, joined a few years later by Tom Peterson and Citizen Pain after Cutthroat had left the group. As a band, Eat Lipstick have released two albums, most recently in the fall of 2019 with the Peaches-produced, aptly titled »New Wig! No Rules!« To describe how it sounds would only be a half-truth, as Eat Lipstick are something to be seen – and you could see them as the lowest common denominator of KISS, Roxy Music and Divine. Anyway, however you perceive it, this is what’s called disco-punk. From the album opener »Money Shot« to the closer »Afraid of Love,« it’s a whole lot of Rocky Horror glam, Limp Wrist hardcore, gospel a cappellas and a hailstorm of handclaps. In short, a very healthy mix. At Pop-Kultur this year, it comes with a splash of Kris Sinister and Betty Dynamite, who will join the band for their performance.
