Floyd Lavine

Floyd Lavine describes himself as an »African nomad,« but the Berlin native has at least one permanent home: the dancefloor. And not only as co-organiser of the RISE event series but also as an accomplished producer whose work is all about the groove. Lavine’s numerous releases – for labels such as Moon Harbour, Connected and, of course, RISE’s own imprint – are adventurously eclectic: scratchy acid meets field recordings, wooden percussion meets soft pads, Afrobeat borrowings meet tech-house rhythms. His appearance at Pop-Kultur will be no less exceptional, with Lavine in fact striving to surpass his own usual high standards. Where the journey will lead has yet to be revealed. Where it will begin, however, is already clear: on the dancefloor, of course.
