Hendrik Otremba

»conditio benito«

As soon as Messer cemented their status as one of the best current German-language bands with their fourth album »No Future Days,« their mastermind, singer, artist and novelist Hendrik Otremba was already thinking about his next project. Inspired by avant-garde films such as Chris Marker’s »La Jétée,« his contribution to Pop-Kultur 2020 combines photography, text and sound in »a sort of picture-novel-film,« as he puts it – a multimedia, interdisciplinary work that, in a matter of minutes, brings together pretty much all of his core strengths and also sees his brother Dominik contribute sound to the little gesamtkunstwerk. The versatile author behind the novels »Über uns der Schaum« und »Kachelbads Erbe« has already performed at previous editions of Pop-Kultur, either with his band or as a solo artist, but his project for this year’s festival promises to be a very special one.
