Hengameh Yaghoobifarah: »Ministerium der Träume« (De)

When the police knock on Nasrin’s door, she doesn’t think much of it at first. No, the family on the fourth floor is not a clan, she tells the perplexed officers. But they are there because of other family matters, and they concern Nasrin. When she hears about Nushin’s death, she doesn’t believe the official version. It was supposedly a car accident, abut the sister suspects suicide. The bouncer’s life is turned upside down: She has to take care of her niece from one day to the next and reconstruct the actual events. This is the starting point of Hengameh Yaghoobifarah’s debut novel »Ministerium der Träume« (»Ministry of Dreams«), a sometimes linguistically surreal and always astute reckoning with the circumstances in Germany. After reading from her book, Yaghoobifarah will discuss the novel with journalist and author Enrico Ippolito.
