Pop-Kultur 2020

Part II

In this year’s edition of the German Pop-Kultur festival, 36 audio-visual works from around the world will be compiled into three feature-length shows, a kind of supercut of perspectives. In the second part of the Pop-Kultur show, Canadian musician Jessy Lanza will play her favorite chord progressions, while Tellavision from Berlin and Echo from Tel Aviv will present the results of their digital, transcontinental residency. But of course that’s not all. Chikiss will breathe new musical life into avant-garde silent and horror films, hackedepicciotto will get remixed live by the Gebrüder Teichmann, and Rafael-Evitan Grombelka will interpret Erregung Öffentlicher Erregung’s song »Kein Bock auf Frühstück« (»Can’t Be Bothered for Breakfast«) in German sign language. Besides those three Commissioned Works, Pamela Owusu-Brenyah will host a talk on DIY principles in African music festivals, while Theodora, Mavi Phoenix, Eden Derso, SADO OPERA, The Düsseldorf Düsterboys and 24/7 Diva Heaven will be present with mostly music-related contributions.

The score for all the three parts of our Pop-Kultur show has been composed by Philipp Thimm. Part II ends with credit music by Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge.
