SADO OPERA

Berlin’s club scene has always been a haven and a hotbed for the city’s queer community. More than almost any other club, Wilde Renate is characterised by an inclusive approach that also encompasses the creative side of the party circuit. The Colonel and Katya are originally from St. Petersburg, meanwhile preaching (gender-)free love all around the world. However, the band – completed by the two German brothers Icky and Licky – have found their home base directly at the Spree. The core of SADO OPERA holds a DJ residency at the club, and the group can be seen playing there regularly as the house band. It goes without saying, from funky rock to slick electro-pop, it’s all about danceability. With their flashy performances, provocative appearances and political aspirations that go beyond the stage, they embody the best of what the Berlin club scene has to offer: fun and activism in one.
