Soft Agency (Teresa Dillon)

Traditionally, Western ethics and theories of care have tended to focus on human needs, with a more recent shift addressing ecological matters. This shift has brought a renewed focus on our interdependent relations with companion species and landscapes. Exploring this extended approach to care, Teresa Dillon – artist, researcher and member of the Berlin-based group Soft Agency – draws on ritual, oral and healing traditions to tell earth-centred stories about technology. »Mineral Compression« is a performative lecture and guided mediation of visualisation that brings an awareness to the critical minerals residing in everyday mobile and network technologies, as well as our relationship to them.
