Sorry3000? It’s okay! But what for, and why so many times? Maybe Stefanie Heartmann wants to apologise for not being political, singing about how someone doesn’t love her because of that on »Warum Overthinking dich zerstört« (»Why Overthinking Destroys You«), her band’s debut album. But that’s not her fault, of course, as the mid-tempo rock ballad makes clear, with a wry sense of humour. Humour indeed: whether the new wave smasher »Dirty Talk,« the electroclashy »Fitness« or the hi-NRG/funk hybrid »Nasenspray« – it’s full of jokes about post-party banter at the kitchen table, temporary abstinence from beer and stuffed noses. But the group from Halle an der Saale also offer a strikingly serious expression of everyday absurdities, which on songs like »Tarifgebiet« then decisively get politicised. Fitting this together so confidently and convincingly in a radio-friendly format doesn’t call for an apology – not even one.
