The Düsseldorf Düsterboys

The Düsseldorf Düsterboys are actually from Essen, but apart from that, everything’s just right with the band. With International Music, Peter Rubel and Pedro Goncalves Crescenti released one of the best German-language albums of the past few years and have performed several times at Pop-Kultur, and now, they’ve written the number-one greatest folk-pop-rock album with German lyrics about cigarettes, coffee and alcohol. That sounds like a joke, but the Düsterboys are dead serious. »Nenn mich Musik« has 16 tracks and yet has a running time of just 50 minutes. It was recorded on nearly prehistoric equipment with Olaf Opal but still makes current statements – ones that nobody had come up with before, or at least never dared to say out loud. Simply put, »Nenn mich Musik« is a masterpiece, yet it’s only the beginning.
