ongoing project and Sisterqueens
Rap and feminism? Of course they go together. Rap and sexism? Unfortunately, they do too. In practice, at least, there are enough examples of this combination that, in theory, should already be history. The Sisterqueens initiative is committed to fostering the former and combatting the latter, in Berlin-Wedding and beyond. Workshops geared towards kids aged nine to 18 are led by mentors such as Ebow and Alice Dee. Launched by the artist collective »ongoing project,« the project focusses on personal empowerment and creative experiments but, first and foremost, on collective solidarity. It’s no wonder that this has been recognised with the Hatun Sürücü Prize, or that previous Sisterqueens performances have sold out. The next chance is at Pop-Kultur – don’t miss it!
