Ozan Ata Canani & Karaba

»Arbeitskräfte wurden gerufen … aber Menschen sind gekommen« (»Workforces were summoned … but people came«), sang Ozan Ata Canani back in 1978. Decades after the agreements concerning guest workers between Germany and Turkey, this line – borrowed from Swiss author Max Frisch – has lost none of its validity. Almost lost, however, were Canani’s German-language compositions, which were only available on cassette until the release of the compilation »Songs of Gastarbeiter Vol. 1.« Now, three years after Berlin label Fun in the Church reissued the song »Alle Menschen Dieser Erde« (»All People of this Earth«), it has released the Turkish-German legend’s first proper full-length album: »Warte mein Land, warte« (»Wait my Country, Wait«). At Pop-Kultur, the bağlama master will take the stage along with the Munich kraut-psych band Karaba.
