»SAZ – The Key of Trust«

Petra Nachtmanova’s biography is that of a border crosser, but also that of an intermediary. The active musician, who’s also performing her interpretations of Türkü on bağlama in the Çaystube, travelled from Berlin to the Khorasan region with director Stephan Talneau for »SAZ – The Key of Trust.« In their luggage: the instrument that gives the film its title. In mind: getting to know other players of this Turkish lute, hearing their stories and reinterpreting them in song. The documentary, about 100 minutes long, uses the saz to tell more than just the story of an instrument in impressive pictures – it also depicts various cultures and a sound that connects them across thousands of kilometres.
