Focus on Canada

From the very beginning, one of Pop-Kultur’s core values has been unconditional internationality. In the second year of the pandemic, this is more relevant than ever. And so we are pleased to be able to continue our cooperation with Canada in 2021, which has existed unofficially for a long time. Musicians from Canada have been shaping Berlin’s scene and subculture for decades. From King Khan, who took part in Pop-Kultur 2020, to pianist Chilly Gonzales, Peaches and Miss Natasha Enquist, who also previously appeared at the festival, the many different facets of Canadian pop music have been thoroughly represented on the other side of the globe.With Paradis Artificiel and Marie Davidson & L’Œil Nu, once again this year, Canadian artists are involved with digital works that are receiving their premiere on the Pop-Kultur website during the festival.

This project is part of Canada’s cultural programme as Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2020/2021 and is supported by FACTOR Canada and the Government of Canada.
